How did you meet?
We met on a study abroad trip in Australia in December 2016. We both attended the University of Georgia at the time; however, we did not meet until we embarked on our study abroad journey that winter. We became quick friends over the course of our trip, but it was not until Kevin asked me to go on his senior year formal with him in New Orleans when our relationship began to prosper. After battling long distance for the first few years of the relationship, our jobs and lives were finally able to cross paths in April 2020 where we both settled down in Jacksonville, Florida. We have been there ever since!
Why did you choose to have a destination wedding?
After living in many states across the US, our family and friends were scattered across the US and we did not have a sole place in mind where we wanted to do our wedding. We went through a ton of location options all across the US, however, we ultimately came to the conclusion that we wanted to be different and create a unique experience that would stand out. We wanted to create memories with our guests that lasted more than just one single day, and having a destination wedding where we were at a resort with friends and family for the entire weekend did just that. :)
Why did you choose Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in Punta Cana for your destination wedding?
We decided to have our wedding in Punta Cana for various reasons. The beautiful beaches, weather, and ease of access from most major airports was our initial draw. Once we came across the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana resort during our research, there was no question that we wanted to have it there. Our number one priority in choosing a resort was ensuring the safety and health of our guests and making sure they were able to truly enjoy their own vacation. Upon visiting the resort for the first time, we were captivated by the stunning architecture, gourmet dining options, upscale amenities, and BEST SERVICE the resort had to offer. There was no doubt in our mind after visiting the resort for the first time that we had to have our wedding there!
What was your most memorable moment during your ceremony?
It is SO hard to pick a single moment that was most memorable, but if I had to choose it would be having one of our best friends officiate the wedding and getting to read our vows in front of all of our closest friends and family!
What was the best part about having a destination wedding?
We absolutely loved everything about having a destination wedding. The planning process was made so easy by Shoreline Destinations and our wedding coordinators at the resort. They clearly have tons of experience in this area and really allowed us to step back and focus on the parts of the wedding that we really cared about. We also really loved how our friends and family were able to meet each other at the resort in the days leading up to our wedding, which made the entire day so special for us. We did not have to spend any time on our wedding day introducing people and could truly just focus on having the best time of our lives!
What was your experience using Shoreline Destinations?
The ladies at Shoreline Destinations made our guests travel experience seamless. From setting up the wedding website to coordinating all guests hotel bookings and transfers, they truly allowed us to focus on planning the more important things for our wedding day. On top of that, each guest received a personalized note from Andrea in the weeks after the wedding, which multiple people have told us was one of the nicest gestures. I think that truly speaks to the girls that work for Shoreline Destinations and how much they care about their clients and guests.
