Our Planning PROCESS

Andrea Norfolk
Founder & Destination Weddings Expert

  • Let Andrea Norfolk and her team guide you through the destination wedding planning process. We are experts at planning weddings in the Caribbean & Mexico and our team will do the work so you can dream about attire and décor!

Start by Scheduling a Complimentary Consultation with Andrea Norfolk.

  • During your complimentary consultation, Andrea Norfolk will share our process with you and you’ll have a chance to let her know what your dream destination wedding looks like.

All calls are done via Zoom (cameras on please) and we recommend that you and your fiancé both attend so that Andrea can get to know you both.

  • After your complimentary consultation, we require a one-time Planning Fee of $300 to continue the planning process.

This fee covers our time spent researching destination options and creating a customized proposal for you. We pride ourselves on providing the best service, resort, and destination recommendations.

You will not be charged any additional fees to work with Shoreline Destinations along the way.

  • Yes! Our resort pricing for you and your guests matches is very competitive. We would work with your resort to create a room block so that you can also lock in room pricing for your group.

    • Step 1: Andrea will send you a proposal with 3-8 resort recommendations based on your requirements.

    • Step 2: Select your favorite resorts (no more than 3-4). If you can’t decide, Andrea will discuss with you.

    • Step 3: Andrea will reach out to your favorite resorts to confirm ceremony and reception availability and will send you wedding package info and pricing.

    • Step 4: Once your ceremony and reception dates are confirmed they are available, Andrea will request group room rates from each resort.

    • Step 5: Pick your resort! Schedule a Zoom call with Andrea if you would like to discuss.

    • Step 6: Andrea will request an official wedding a room block contract for the resort you chose.

    • Step 7: Review and sign your contract. Pay your deposit.

  • Once your room contract is signed, you will work directly with our website designer to create your custom website.

You will provide our designer with a few pictures of the two of you and she will include information on your destination, resort, room categories, travel info, and more!

You can then request any changes or adjustments that you would like!

ABOUT Wedding Planning

  • We recommend beginning the planning process for your destination wedding at least a year in advance. This gives you better access to event venues and room blocks while allowing your guests ample time to save and arrange time off.

While it’s possible to plan a destination wedding in less time, you may need to be flexible with your resort choice, wedding date, and other details.

  • Send out your invitations as early as possible—ideally at least 8 months before your wedding date. This gives your guests plenty of time to request time off and budget for their trip.

Many of our couples opt to skip save-the-dates and instead send detailed invitations with all the essential information included.

  • The free rooms aren't really physical rooms. It's just the value of a room. Calculations are NOT done until 30 days prior to arrival and we cannot request it early. Thus, at 30 days prior to arrival, Andrea will ask the hotel for comp value, she’ll provide it to you and you can tell me how to allocate the money.

If you have a few rooms (such as the parents, outside vendors, etc.) that you are covering all or part of the cost of, you'll need to alert Andrea and Meredith or Sharon ahead of time. Then, when those guests fill out the form, we'll know not to collect money from them and that you will be paying for their rooms. If you are subsidizing part of the cost (ex $500 per room) then you'd also alert us, and we'd leave a remaining balance on those particular rooms. Then at 30 days prior to travel, we'll advise that the remaining balances should be paid with the comps.

Between your room block deposit and comps earned, you can pay off whatever rooms are needed (including your own). Any "leftover" money will be refunded back to the credit card used for room block deposit and the credit normally appears right before you travel.

  • Whether you have to pay for outside vendors for a destination wedding depends on your chosen resort or venue. Many all-inclusive resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean have preferred vendor lists and charge an outside vendor fee if you hire someone not on their list.

However, some resorts may waive the fee if the vendor is a guest staying at the resort for a set number of nights. Always check your resort’s policies and contracts to understand their rules about outside vendors.

As a destination wedding travel agency, we can help you navigate these details and find the best options for your vision and budget.

  • We highly recommend visiting your resort a few months prior to your wedding if possible. This will allow you to see the event locations, meet with your on-site wedding planner, and get to know the resort.

We will provide you with a list of top questions you should ask while visiting the resort.

Many of the resorts we work with will also offer discounted pricing for couples doing a site visit after they have signed a wedding contract.
