How did you meet?
Jeremy and I met at a little dive bar, named Buddy's, next to the beach in our town. He was the bouncer at the bar.
Why did you choose to have a destination wedding?
We choose to have a destination wedding because both of our families are from out of town. I was raised in Maryland and Jeremy is from Michigan. We are getting married in February and it will be cold here in North Carolina as well as Maryland and Michigan. We figured if it would be a destination wedding for both our families anyways to come to North Carolina to see us get married, we might as well go somewhere warm and tropical.
Why did you choose your resort and destination?
We choose Punta Cana because neither of us have been there, but have heard amazing things about it. We also took into consideration price and the Dominican Republic fit our budget. We choose the resort based on online reviews and pictures from the website.
Did you add any personal touches to your wedding ceremony?
No, we kept it simple. I am not an attention to detail type of bride. I used a lot of the natural scenery as my detail.
What was your most memorable moment during your ceremony?
The scenery... the tourists watching were pretty funny. The fire dancers were our favorite part of the reception.
Did you do any activities with your guests? If so, which was your favorite?
We did a catamaran boat cruise that included snorkeling, sight seeing and drinking/dancing in the water.
What was the best part about having a destination wedding?
The destination and minimal planning compared to the traditional wedding.
What are the top 5 things you’d recommend to someone going to the same destination or resort?
1. The locations for all three of my events (beach wedding, night club reception and pool island for rehearsal dinner)
2. The boat ride with a lot of my guests the day after the wedding. Super fun and inexpensive excursion.
3. The diving excursion my husband went on.
4. All the food was amazing especially at the wedding and rehearsal dinner.
5. The coffee!
How was your experience using Shoreline Destinations for planning your destination wedding?
We had an amazing experience with Shoreline Destinations putting together our wedding adventure. All emails and communication was expedited in a timely manner. All of my guests were taken care of and if a problem did come about, it was resolved in a timely manner. I highly recommend using this company to plan any type of event, but especially a large group event. The whole team is extremely organized and the president, Andrea, is extremely knowledgeable and professional yet very fun to work with. We will be using this company again for future trips. I have recommended them to some of our wedding guests because they had such a great time at our wedding. My wedding would not have gone as beautifully as it did with out Andrea and all her hard working gals!
